Beachcombing: Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean

One of my favorite things to do during a cloudy day on Bonaire is beachcomb at Baby Beach.

My mom and I try to venture to the south side every time we’re on Bonaire, and last week was no different when we were on island for a mother-daughter trip. Sometimes after days on the beach we like to do something different. So we headed down to the south of the island to see some of the treasures that may have washed ashore from the sea.

It’s always good to go into beachcombing with a positive attitude- “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”, right? You’ll never know what you’ll find. Sometimes its just washed up sea urchins, bottles, and driftwood, but sometimes there are real treats. I’ve heard of a local family finding a gold doubloon once. Hey, I’m still in search of my golden treasure; one can dream…

After an afternoon of beach hunting we headed up towards Te Amo beach to cap off the day with some yummy, refreshing sangria from the Kite Beach Truck. What a perfect end to the day.
