Wandering Wellfleet

Now that summer is in full swing I’ve got my list of summer fun activities, and I’m checking it twice. First up, wandering through one of my favorite towns, Wellfleet.

A couple weeks ago, I went on a gallery and bar crawl of my favorite spots in the small town.

Great walking path through town

Frying Pan Gallery

Probably my favorite on Cape, Frying Pan Gallery showcases a variety of local art. Located in an old school oyster shack right in Wellfleet Harbor, this is a must see for any art lover. In this gallery, the walls are filled in photographs, paintings, and sculptures. You’ll also find the ubiquitous steel sculptures of owner and fellow artist Steve Swain, plus works from many other local artisans.

Left Bank Gallery

Definitely another worth visiting, Left Bank Gallery, houses a plethora of local art in their spacious Commercial Street location. Not only does the gallery sell art from realism to abstract, there are also books, stationary, jewelry, and home furnishings for sale.

PB Boulangerie

This French bakery and bistro a great spot to start off the eating/ bar crawl. Stop off here for some decadent treats and a cup of café au lait. There are croque monsieur, lemon tartes, pain au chocolat, and so much more to enjoy.

Lemon Tarte was to die for!

Mac Shack

I love this restaurant, its always one of my go-to places in the summer. Mac Shack is the perfect place for relaxing with a cool beverage or for a full dinner. There is never anything bad to say about this place. I like sitting at the bar to enjoy some yummy sushi and creative drinks. Every time I go, I get the El Mescalito or a Painkiller. As for sushi, my favorites are the spicy tuna mango martini and kamikaze roll.

The Beachcomber

This is a Cape Cod institution. Basically, if you are on Cape, you have to check out the Beachcomber at Cahoon Hallow Beach. Year after year, it continues to be crowned one of the top beach restaurants in the country, and for good reasons. They have amazing raw bar, fried seafood, and even better cocktails; the Goomay Smash is the fan favorite. Not only is this a great place to dine and relax, as the sun goes down it a great place to hear live music. Tuesdays are the famous Reggae night with Dj Bud E Green. Throughout the summer they have live shows with Collie Buddz, G Love, The Boston Naturals, and many more. This is an amazing local spot, plus it holds great memories for me.

Hope you’ll enjoy all that Wellfleet has to offer!
