I love trying new cuisines; in fact, I think I’ll pretty much try any food. One of my favorite places on Cape Cod is an authentic hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant, Thuan Loi. Family run on Cape for just over 15 year, the Tran family commutes from outside Boston to Yarmouth six days a week to serve their delicious food. There is something so comforting about the family bringing their family recipes to the public. I started dining at Thuan Loi about 5 years ago with my mom and haven’t stopped yet. Everything is always fresh, and I’m always satisfied.
Two of my favorite dishes are the phó of course, and the bún. Phó, probably the most popular of the local cuisine, is a soup made with beef broth with beef, rice noodles, basil and lime added. Bún, one of my favorites is grilled fatty pork over rice noodles, often times I opt for the vegetarian version.
Here’s my advice: If you’re visiting the Cape and looking for something other than the fried seafood and lobster rolls, then try something different and opt for Thuan Loi. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good lobster roll, but sometimes I really crave a big, spicy bowl of phó.
